Update On Jamb 2016 Prospects

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB modified the registration procedure for students seeking admission for the 2016/2017 academic session. The modification according to JAMB, will lessen competition among candidates seeking placement to the nation’s “oversubscribed” universities.

According to Dr Fabian Benjamin, the chief information officer of the board, JAMB has introduced “preferred choice” platform in its portal. This new addition will enable candidates have wider opportunities of securing admission.

“What we did initially was that you only have one choice. Now, we have made it in such a way that if you miss the University of Lagos; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira, you will have an opportunity of going to another school.

“Before, all universities will be in first and second choice and that will not solve any problem. We have now decided to put a few of those schools we feel will have more spaces as more preferred.

“Institutions placed on the more preferred choice are those that are mostly not oversubscribed. This is because it will not make any sense if you place institutions like the ABU, UNILAG, OAU and UNN, when in actual sense they cannot even admit one third of the candidates that will choose them as most preferred,” he said.

Nollywood Veteran Actor, Festus Aguebor Dies

This is sad!  After somedays of tragic death of popular Igodo actor Michael Odiachi, Nollywood has experienced another great loss.

Ace producer, Fidelis Duker announced on Facebook the passing away of veteran actor Festus Aguebor, who was popular for his roles in movies such as The King and I, Family Contract, Rituals and A Kiss from a Rose. He was also popular for his role as the grandpa in family series “Household.”

What he wrote below;

History Made As UNILAG Graduates Student With 5.0 CGPA

Whatever you are doing, do it well and your results will speak for itself. Authorities of the University of Lagos on Wednesday declared a Psychology graduand, Ayodele Dada, as the overall best in the institution’s history.

Dada scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.00.

No candidate has ever obtained the grade in the annals of the 54-year-old university.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Rahamon Bello, made this known on Wednesday while announcing programmes for the institution’s 48th convocation ceremonies.

Bello said, “This year, a record has been set. A graduating student in the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Sciences, Mr. Ayodele Dada, is graduating with a CGPA of 5.00. This is a perfect score. This means he scored As in all courses he took in the programme. I congratulate Mr. Dada and the members of staff of the Department of Psychology for this feat.”

The convocation ceremonies, according to the VC, will hold between March 1 and 3.

Ten thousand, nine hundred and seven persons will receive degrees, diplomas and certificates during the ceremonies.

Apart from Dada, the VC noted that 177 other candidates obtained First Class while 71 persons obtained PhD degrees.

Bello stated that 1,617 candidates obtained Second Class Upper degrees.

He added, “A total of 2,496 others will be graduating in the Second Class Lower division, 884 in the Third Class and 274 in unclassified degrees in Medical Sciences and Pharmacy and 50 had pass degrees.”

Of the 11 faculties, he said that the Faculty of Engineering topped the performance register with 41 First Class graduating students.

The same UNILAG, two years ago, had produced Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara, a 24-year-old, as the youngest doctoral degree holder in Africa. Oluwadara studied Mathmatics.

Naira Strengthens Up Against Dollar

Naira is now trading at N250 to a dollar at the parallel market from N364 at which it sold on Tuesday, according to reports from The Sun. The Acting President of the Association of Bureau de Change of Nigeria (ABCON), Aminu Gwadabe, said the market was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘no devaluation’ stance. 

He said: “Like the President indicated recently, since the only significant thing we export is crude oil, devaluation will do more harm to the economy than good. So we also say no to further devaluation of the Naira!”

 He also affirmed ABCON’s backing to ensure its members comply with the CBN’s regulation as well as operate within the approved margin of 3.5% with the hope that the demand and supply situation would improve to restore calm and stability in the market.....  

Latest Etisalat Magic Ips For March 2016

No good news yet about Magic IP's and the Etisalat Social Me/ChatPak that we are managing, most the proxy servers that we are using for it are currently down. Etisalat is here to stay, they keep proving to be the best in firewall protection, but they will surely continue to fall well in our hand. 

Proxy Servers like facebook.com, instagram.com, twitter.com are currently down, but we still have two active proxy servers, which can be use to surf via Etisalat Social Me/ChatPak tweak without out using any host address (IP). When active IP's are scarce, Sypon Shield, Psiphon, ProNET are still available for you to surf the web without any host address or port, all you need is working Proxy server.

Register Your Airtel Sim And Receive N25,000 Worth Airtime

Airtel is currently giving out whooping N25,000 worth Airtime to call all network and browse when you register your Airtel SIM that needs re-registration which was barred for 30 days.

If you have old or new Airtel SIMs that have been abandoned for long, I advise you to take it out and go to any nearest Airtel registration center to re-register your SIM card, and your Sim will be credited with N25,000 airtime to call all network within 24 hours after the registration of the SIM card, if your sim card blessed with good luck, your free airtime will be accompany with free megabytes data plan.

 

To verify if your Airtel SIM is barred, dial 111 and listen to the instruction, you will know if your SIM is barred or not. If it is barred, then count yourself lucky as your Airtel SIM is blocked and re-registration would be needed to re-activate it.

I don't know if to call it a competition between Nigeria network providers, MTN did theirs and most of their network subscribers got N10,000, N5,000 and N2,000 respectively, after they re-registered their sim. Don't be left out in this Airtel Awoof.

How To Share/Tether Tunnel VPN Network To PC And Android Devices

Hi lovely viewers and welcome to this post. This tutorial is not something new on the internet, but I wonder why people are still finding it difficult to share/tether their Tunnel VPN network, as a result of too much request, I have no choice than to come up with this tutorial.

I know that most of us are flexing with Simple Android Server, Psiphon Handler, OpenVPN, Tweakware, TunnelGureu, DroidVPN etc. To bypass the networks in order to have free access to the internet. Extending the internet connection of your Tunnel VPN from your smartphone to your PC without using any VPN on your PC is really cool.

Today, I'm going to show you 4 different methods with 3 different apps to share or tether your Tunnel VPN connection either your phone is rooted or not. 

Method 1 
To share or tether your Tunnel VPN internet connection via Hotspot to PC or other device, this method known as - Manual Configuration
Note: Rooting NOT Required
 

1. Make sure your VPN is connected with either your MTN Free Browsing with N0.0 or Mtn Bis or Etisalat Magic Tweak or Etisalat social me/chat pak tweak etc.

2. Create a Wi-Fi hotspot on the main (primary) phone.  Use default (set your WiFi security to none or default).

3. Now go to the other phone/device (secondary) and switch on the Wi-Fi to start searching for available network.

4. When connected, long press on the connected network name and then tap on “Modify Network”.

5. On the next screen, tap on the “Show Advanced Options” check box to open full settings.

6. On the proxy settings, select “Manual” (Tap on the “none” for the dropdown options to appear.

7. Configure as follows:

          -        Proxy Hostname: 127.0.0.1

          -       Proxy Port: 8080

8. Leave the rest and tap on “Save”, then you can start enjoy your free browsing on the device you shared it to.

Method 2 
How to share or tether your Tunnel VPN internet connection to PC via USB Cable or WiFi Hotspot with the use of an app Called - PDANet+

Note: Rooting NOT Required 

PDANet+ is one of the top Android apps using for sharing tunnel VPN connection, it is to stop some tethering limitations on your Android device and allows you to connect all your tunnel VPN network to any PC or device via USB Tethering or WiFi Hotspot. 

1. Download and install PDANet+ for your Android device from below links;

2. Make sure your Hotspot is switched off to start with

3. Run the installed PDANet+ app on your Android. Note that to share the connection with a PC, you have to download the pdanet.exe file for PC.

          -      USB Tether

          -      Bluetooth Server

          -      Wifi Hotspot

5. Make sure you Enable USB debuggingon your Android (from the “Developer Options”).

6. Tap and Activate the “USB Tether”option for best reliability and connect your USB cable to the PC

7. Install the PDANet+ for PC (if not already installed) and confirm that it is connected to the phone.

8. Open the PDANet+ menu from the notification bar of your Windows and click on “Connect Internet (USB)”.

9. It will verify and authenticate your connection automatically and you will be connected via USB.

Using PdaNET+ via WIFI Hotspot
If you don't want to use USB cable you can also connect your pdanet+ via WiFi Hotspot, but it's better to crack PdaNet+ in order to enjoy the full version.
1. Download and install FoxFi Key on your phone to crack PdaNet+

2. Then open your Pdanet+ and mark Activate WiFi Hotspot

Then turn ON your PC Wifi and search for available wireless and you will detect FoxFi33
Connect it and enjoy free wifi from your mobile device.

DF tethering stop some tethering limitations on your Android device and allows you to connect all your tunnel VPN network to any PC or other device using your portable WiFi Hotspot

2. Navigate to your phone settings and enable your tethering Hotspot
3. Launch your DF Tethering and click on Fix Tethering

5. Start surfing for free on your PC

Method 4

How to share or tether your VPN internet connection to PC or other device via WiFi Hotspot with the use of an app Called - Iswat Tether Unlocker

Iswat Tether Unlocker stop some tethering limitations on your Android device and allows you to connect all your tunnel VPN network to any pc or other device using your portable Hotspot.

While the origins of the term may be traced to French geographers of the early twentieth century, Edward Ullman’s “Geography as Spatial Interaction” is normally cited as the seminal statement of the concept. InUllman’s conception there were “three bases for spatial interaction” or more fundamentally, three reasons for why things move: complementarity, transferability, and intervening opportunity.

 

Complementarity refers to the presence of a demand or deficit at one location and a supply or surplus at another without which there is no economic rationale for any movement. A workplace such as a factory or office tower is an example of a place with a demand for labor while a residential neighborhood provides a source of workers. A sawmill requires logs while a forest provides them. To adapt a metaphor from physics, complementarity is like a potential gradient with goods and people flowing from a higher energy state where they are in surplus to a lower energy state, where they are in deficit. From the realm of physical geography, wind is the flow of air between complementary atmospheric zones: from a high pressure cell to a low pressure cell.

 

            The complementary surplus-deficit relationship is commodity-specific, and if the deficit is precisely specified, the direction and distance of movement will depend on the location where there is a surplus of just that kind of good. Complementary relationships may be the impetus for interaction between distant regions such as the flow of petroleum over thousands of miles from the Middle East toEurope and within regions such as the flow of shoppers from residential neighborhoods to small convenience stores over a distance of less than a mile or two.

 

David Ricardo’s classical economic concept of “comparative advantage” provides a relative measure of the degree of economic complementarity between two countries based on their opportunity costs. All other things being equal, one nation will export goods to another nation when it can produce a unit quantity at a lower relative cost than the importing nation. In a similar vein, John Dunning’s eclectic theory of foreign direct investment predicts that foreign investment will take place when a firm in one country has such a powerful “firm-specific advantage” that it can overcome the barriers to entry in a foreign country market in which there is a “location-specific advantage” in factor costs such as land, labor or capital. Thus foreign direct investment flows from regions with a surplus of capital to regions with a capital deficit, creating the international ownership lineaments that make-up the multinational corporation.

 

Transferability refers to the cost of overcoming distance measured in real economic terms of either time or travel cost. The cost of overcoming distance is known as the “friction of distance.” If the friction of distance is too great, interaction will not occur in spite of a complementary supply-demand relationship. Friction of distance depends on prevailing transportation technology and the price of energy. In general, the friction of distance has decreased over time which is the prime factor in globalization and the emergence of megacities. Daily commuter flows, for example, are always subject to a travel time constraint with two hours being a typical maximum for the one-way daily journey to work. High-value, low-weight goods such as jewelry are imminently transferable and exported on a global scale while heavy, low-value goods such as concrete blocks are usually used very close to where they are produced.

 

            Intervening opportunity is the third basis for interaction although it typically is considered as the reason for a lack of interaction between two complementary locations. Complementarity will only generate a flow if there is no intervening, or closer, location. The flow of goods that would otherwise occur between two complementary; locations may be diverted to a third location if it represents an intervening opportunity: a closer complementary alternative with a cheaper overall cost of transportation. However,Ullman noted that the trade diverting effect of an intervening opportunity could eventually facilitate interaction between more distant complementary locations. In his example, the nearest (intervening) source of logs would justify construction of a short logging railway from the mill to the forest resource and when it was harvested, the railway would be extended to the next intervening opportunity and so on until it ultimately reached a more distant complementary location. Flows to the more distant complementary location might never have been established had the transportation infrastructure not been constructed in a series of incremental extensions to a series of intervening opportunities.

 

Important forms of spatial interaction such as traffic flows and migration may be predicted and explained based on an analogy with Newton’s model of the gravitational attraction between celestial bodies. Assuming that there is no intervening opportunity, the degree ofcomplementarity between any two regions is proportional to the product of the populations of the origin and destination regions and inversely proportional to the distance between them, representing transferability. Thus the level of spatial interaction may be specified as:

where T_ij is the spatial interaction between origin i and destination j, P_i and P_j are their respective populations, d_ij is the distance between them, and b is an exponent representing the interaction retarding effect of the friction of distance which depends on transportation technology. To calibrate this simple model, a constant, k, is introduced to account for scale differences.

 

The concept of spatial interaction can be traced to French geographers’ notions ofgéographie de circulation, including both the movement of physical objects and the communication of intangible ideas. But its fullest development as the most fundamental of all geographic concepts came in the middle 1950s as the seminal contribution of Ed Ullman. Hitherto, geography had been conceptualized as a way of describing the areal differentiation of sites. With the spatial interaction concept, Ullman shifted attention tosituation as a second and equally importantlocational attribute. Areal differentiation emerged as the outcome of transportation and trade which permitted specialization in particular economic activities and concentrations of various social groups. Thus spatial interaction remains fundamental to understanding the development of distinctive regional geographies.

1. Alcohol takes priority. When you consume any alcohol, your body makes breaking down the alcohol its top priority. Your body cannot store alcohol (like with proteins, carbs, and fats), so your liver works extra hard to detoxify your entire body by removing the alcohol from the blood. This slows down and confuses the body which is why you get drunk, and because your liver has to work so hard, it is more likely to be problematic later.

2. Bacteria grows in your gut. Alcohol abuse often leads to intestinal bacteria growth. These bacteria can migrate through the intestinal wall. This is problematic on its own, but when the bacteria gets into the liver it can cause serious damage. Even a single night of drinking can damage the intestinal lining.

3. Your heart will become weakened. Drinking too much alcohol can lead to a weak heart (cardiomyopathy), irregular patterns (arrhythmia), or high blood pressure.

Doctors suggest drinking red wine can be good for you, but I would still take caution. Dr. Hanouneh says healthy people can still drink, but certainly not every day, or even most days of the week. All this said, alcohol is best avoided, but can be fine in moderation.

Confirming the incident, the state Police spokesperson, DSP Zubairu Abubakar said one Ummu-Salam Umar; has been arrested in connection with the crime.

"At about 1.15pm, the Vice Principal of FGGC, Malali, Mrs. Obianwuzia reported at the station that ‎the corpse of a new born baby suspected to have been delivered by a student wrapped in a white cloth was thrown over the school fence. The corpse of the baby was left dangling on the school fence until the police came and removed it. After taking picture of the scene, it has been deposited at the mortuary."

He said further investigation has commenced into the matter.

Nigeria: EFCC Raids House Of Fmr Chief Of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday Feb. 9th, raided the home of former Chief of Defence Staff Alex Badeh. Badeh is being investigated for his alleged involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal fraud. 

A source at the anti-graft agency who spoke with The Nation about the new development said:

“After interacting with the ex-CDS for 24 hours,  it became important to search his residence for some vital documents. We acted on intelligence report at our disposal. After the search, we made necessary documentation of the items retrieved from the place. Such a search is routine when conducting a sensitive investigation like this".

''Badeh underwent another round of grilling  yesterday bordering on the procurement of used aircraft. he ex-CDS may spend longer days in EFCC custody because of the wider scope of the procurement deals in the Armed Forces. He is expected to account for purchase of uniforms for the Armed Forces when some officers and men complained of not getting the required pairs. On November 26, 2014, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh sought for approval of the award of one pair of uniform(in the interim) for the Armed Forces at N165, 375 to El-Jahab Mubarak Nigeria and N330,750,000 for two pairs’’.

Asides Alex Badeh, other military chiefs being interrogated are  former Chief of Air Staff, A.N. Amosu; ex- Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal M.D. Umar;  ex-National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki ; Col. N. Ashinze , who was the Special Military Assistant to the ex-NSA; and the most senior Air Force officer, and AVM A. M. Mamu(the Chief of Administration).

Others are  AVM O.T. Oguntoyinbo (former Director of Production, Defence Headquarters);  AVM R.A. Ojuawo (Air Officer Tactical Air Command, Makurdi;  AVM J.B. Adigun(former Chief of Accounts and Budgeting in NAF); and AVM JA Kayode-Beckley(Director, Armament Research in Air Force Research and Development Centre); AVM T Omenyi (MD, NAF Holdings)four top officers at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Air Cdre AO Ogunjobi; Air Cdre GMD Gwani; Air Cdre SO Makinde; and Air Cdre AY Lassa.  Some of the areas of investigation are as follows:

• How 10 contracts totalling $930,500,690.00 were awarded
•Payment of  N4,402,687,569.41 for unexecuted contracts
•  Procurement of two used Mi-24V Helicopters instead of the recommended Mi-35M series at $136,944,000.00.
•  4 used Alpha-Jets for the NAF at US$7,180,000.00 funded by ONSA
•  Cannibalization of engines from NAF fleet to justify procurement of jets
•  Excessive pricing of 36D6 Low Level Air Defence Radar at $33m instead of $6m per one
•  Delivery of radars without  vital component of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) that distinguishes between own and adversary aircraft
•  Strange transfer of $2m to Mono Marine Corporation Nigeria Limited owned by some Air Force officers
•N15bn lavished on the maintenance of its Alpha-Jets, C-130H aircraft and Mi-24V/35P helicopters.
• N2.5billion contracts awarded to Syrius Technologies( Ukrainian company) not registered in Nigeria
•  Award of 7 contracts worth N599,118,000.00 contracts to Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria(DICON) but two delivered.

Photos: Doctors In Imo State Shot Down Hospitals Over Police Treatment During Protest

After the doctors/police clash that happened last week in Owerri, angry doctors in the state have declared a three day closure of all private and public hospitals in the state to protest the cruel treatment by the police in Imo & also the ill treatment of Gov. Rochas Okorocha's administration. 

The doctors who protested last week against the management of public hospitals and poor treatment of health workers by the state government, complained bitterly over the treatment of the police during the incident in which some doctors were allegedly shot by the police.

The association said that the closure of the hospitals was to express their grievances against the action of the police and the management of public hospitals by Gov. Okorocha.

"The association condemns the action of the police,  the police acted the script of some government officials by shooting our  members on a peaceful protest",

 "Contrary to the police claim that NMA never obtained permission for the protest, it was monitored by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bisong and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of New Owerri, Eric Uchegbu, who came with six vans loaded with armed policemen, escorting the protesters",

 "The police vans which have been escorting them, at the Ware House roundabout, turned against the doctors, diverting them to end their protest at the Freedom Square and not the Government House as contained in their permit",

"At that point, the police, who were hitherto friendly, threw teargas at them and shot some of his members with live bullets".

Nigeria: EFCC Arraings 3 Over N4.5m Conspiracy

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, February 8, arraigned Joseph Lah Leh, Nwinunu Sorbari and Emenike Henry before Justice U.N Agomoh of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a five- count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N4, 500,000.00 (Four Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira.

The petitioner, Uzoma Obilor, Managing Director/CEO, Bikpak Limited, alleged that one of his business associates, Kenule Kukang, sometime in May, 2012, brought a proposal for getting contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and then introduced him to Lah Leh (the first accused person) who claimed that he could help him( Obilor) secure the contract. 
Obilor further alleged that he was shown a tender, which Kukang, who also claimed to be a special assistant to one L.F.  Ntoue, his in-law and Board member representing Federal Ministry of Finance in  the NDDC, confirmed to be genuine.

Thereafter, Lah Leh allegedly demanded for N5million from Obilor to start the processing of the contract, which was paid in three instalments of N2.5m, N2m and N500, 000 with a Standard Chartered Bank cheque No.00000151.
The petitioner further alleged that, after he had made the full payment, the first accused person, who was accompanied by Sorbari, the second accused person, gave him a contract award letter.
Worried by the incessant threats and harassment for more money  by the accused persons, the petitioner then visited the NDDC to verify the award letter, which was found to be fake.
However, all efforts by the petitioner to get back his money were unsuccessful.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to them.

In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, M.T. Iko, asked for a trial date, However, the defense counsel, O.C. Wechie, prayed the court to grant the accused persons bail.
Justice Agomoh granted the accused bail in the sum of N1, 000,000.00 (One Million Naira) each, with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 12, while the other must be a blood relation who must be verified by the prosecution and court bailiff.
Justice Agomo adjourned to March 15, 2016 for trial and ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.
